Myanmar earns US$630,000 from Maungdaw border trade export in Sept

Myanmar earned over US$630,000 from Rohu (carp fish) and rice export to Bangladesh in September through Maungdaw border trade, sources said.
Although the export amount was reduced in September, about 30,000 kilos of rice, 300,000 kilos of rohu fish and over 340,000 kilos of ginger were exported.
“We exported regular goods such as rice, green gram, chickpea, djengkol, ginger, rohu fish and other dried fishes in September. The rohu fish exported to Bangladesh from Yangon in container trucks by crossing Angumaw with a ship,” said Aung San Thein, vice chairman of Maungdaw Traders Association.
Myanmar exported over US$880,000 worth of export products including over 390,000 kilos of rohu fish and 900,000 kilos of ginger in August.
The rohu fish are directly brought over from Yangon using freezer trucks and Myanmar exported over 90,000 kilos of rohu fish in June, over 220,000 kilos of rohu fish in July, over 390,000 kilos of rohu fish in August and about 300,000 kilos of rohu fish in September.
Even though the border trade volume declines in the rainy season, it will increase again in open seasons.
Myanmar does not import through Maungdaw border trade but has exported over US$1 million worth of products in April and May. Myanmar exported over US$880,000 worth of export products in July, over US$880,000 worth of export products in August and over US$630,000 worth of export products in September.
Myanmar earned US$3.251 million through Maungdaw border trade from May 1 to August 31, which is US$1.224 million less when compared with last year’s amount.
Myanmar earned US$52.843 million through Sittwe border trade from May 1 to August 31 and it is more than US$50.42 million in compared with last year amount.
