Polish-funded fire engines arrive in Myanmar

The 68 modern, high-tech fire-fighting vehicles bought with the loan from Polish government arrived Myanmar and have been distributed to suitable places, according to Fire Services Department.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Soe submitted a proposal to take out Euro 50 million loan from the Polish Government for Myanmar Fire Services Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Union Parliament on December 13th, 2017. The parliament had approved the proposal on December 20th. For Euro 50 million loan, the interest rate is set at 0.15 percent and the suspension period will be five years. The time to settle the loan is altogether 60 years.
At the moment, among the 75 fire engines bought from Poland, 68 fire engines have arrived. These fire engines were already distributed to respective States and Regions,” said an official from Myanmar Fire Services Department.
Among the 68 fire engines that had arrived Myanmar, there is a small fire unit called Fire Fighting Robot LU 60 which is designed to extinguish fire from a distance. If a fire broke out in factories or industries or warehouses or markets with a high danger level, the Fire Fighting Robot LU 60 can send in instead of risking the live of fire fighters.
There are 11,452 fire Brigade members, 309,612 auxiliary brigade members, 18,672 special brigades and 3,295 fire engines and its related equipments in Myanmar.
