Shwedagon Pagoda’s donated estate tender sales cancelled

THE Shwedagon Pagoda trustees have decided against selling land, buildings and apartments, which were donated through a legal contract to the Shwedagon Pagoda, through a competitive tender system, according to the pagoda trustees.
        “We have completely decided against our plan,” said an official from the Shwedagon Pagoda trustees.
        The land, buildings and apartments, which had been donated under contract include a two-storey house located on 11th Street, a two-storey house on 12th Street, a two-storey house on Hledon Street, two ground floor apartments on Shwe Taung Dan Street, a two-storey house on Sin Oh Dan Street, all in Lanmadaw Township, a two-storey house on Htee Tan -1 Street in Kyeemyindine Township and a ground floor apartment on Ingapu Street in Sangyoung Township.
        The pagoda trustees had put an anncouncement in Myanma Alin Daily and the Mirror Daily newspapers on 30 June regarding selling the houses and apartments through a competitive tender system, in order to get funds for the pagoda, with the permission of donors. However, the pagoda trustees have announced in the Mirror Daily newspaper on 10 July the cancellation of the plan to sell the houses and apartments.
