50 deaths on Yangon-Mandalay highway within six months

Between January and June this year, there were 232 traffic accidents on Yangon-Mandalay Highway, resulting in 50 deaths and 490 injuries, according to the highway traffic police in Nay Pyi Taw.
        In January, there were nine deaths and 83 injuries in 41 cases, 11 deaths and 76 injuries in 36 cases in February, four deaths and 62 injuries in 33 cases in March, 12 deaths and 137 injuries in 44 cases in April, eight deaths and 77 injuries in 37 cases in May and six deaths and 55 injuries in 40 cases in June.
        According official records, the average monthly traffic accident is 38 times, with eight average deaths and 81 average injuries.
        In 2016, there were 744 traffic accidents on Yangon-Mandalay Highway, resulting in 167 deaths and 1307 injuries. Last year, there were 555 traffic accidents on Yangon-Mandalay Highway, resulting in 116 deaths and 863 injuries.
